Sunny Leone tops searches in India
Stills from Sunny Leone starrer Jism 2
It seems India is not getting enough of porn star and actor Sunny Leone, who was the most searched celebrity in India according to both the Google Zeitgeist 2012 report and Yahoo's Year in Review 2012. The other top spots for individuals in the Google report went to Rajesh Khanna and Poonam Pandey, while Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi were the most searched newsmakers on Yahoo.
Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger topped Google's top movie searches, while the iPhone 5 and iPad mini were the most searched tech topics on Yahoo. The Yahoo report showed cricket fans were searching about Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and V V S Laxman, while Kerala was the most searched travel destination on Google. The most searched celebrity topic on Yahoo, however, was Aishwarya Rai's weight gain.
As expected the most trending news topics on Yahoo were scams and corruption, but the top trending topic was the "Turbulence of the sky" which pertained to the state of India's airlines. As a measure of the interest generated by them online, Olympics bronze medalist boxer Mary Kom was chosen as Yahoo! India's 'Person of the Year', while Virat Kohli became 2012's Performer of the Year.
Google is expected to announce a detailed list of Indian topics next week. The present figures are from its global report.
