SUPERSTORM
Eastern US braces for dangerous superstorm
NEW YORK (AP) Forecasters say Hurricane Sandy is a couple of hundred miles off the North Carolina coast and the center of the storm is expected to be near the mid-Atlantic coast on Monday night.

The National Hurricane Center said Sunday that the storm has winds of 75 mph. Hurricane-force winds extend up to 175 miles from the storm's center.
Sandy is on track to collide with a wintry storm moving in from the west and cold air streaming down from the Arctic.
Big cities from Washington to Boston are buttoning up in advance of what is expected to be a superstorm that could menace some 50 million people in the most heavily populated corridor in the nation.

Spurrier says RB Lattimore had knee dislocated
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said running back Marcus Lattimore had his right knee dislocated against Tennessee and the injury is something he can come back from to play football again.
Spurrier visited Lattimore on Sunday and said the junior had a good attitude about his condition. Spurrier said South Carolina team doctor Jeffrey Guy was able to put Lattimore's knee back in place soon after he was taken from the field to the hospital.
Spurrier said the injury was significant, but discounted speculation Lattimore would never play football again. Lattimore has not used a redshirt season so he could take as long as necessary to recover and still return to the Gamecocks for the 2014 season.
Spurrier hasn't yet talked with Lattimore about his future.
SUPERSTORM-AMTRAK
Amtrak cancels northeast service ahead of Sandy
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) Amtrak says it is canceling service across the northeastern U.S. on Monday as Hurricane Sandy threatens to create a wet, windy mess in the region.
Amtrak said in a news release Sunday that it was canceling all service north of New York at 7 p.m. Nearly all service across the Eastern Seaboard will be canceled starting Monday.
Amtrak says it has not yet determined when train services will resume. Alternate transportation is not available.
Some trains will continue to run in Florida and the Carolinas.
The news release says customers can receive a refund or voucher for future travel.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) York County's top law enforcement official has been sued over video gaming machines.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports Sunday that lawsuits against Sheriff Bruce Bryant and Marvin Brown, commander of a countywide drug enforcement unit, challenge police actions against owners and operators of such machines.
A video game company says officers confiscated its machines after a judge had declared them legal. In another suit, a Rock Hill business owner says deputies threatened to arrest him to try to keep him from operating the machines.
Bryant and Brown say the officers were following the lead of state police and prosecutors, who had said the machines were illegal.
Video poker was outlawed in South Carolina 12 years ago. Operators say the new machines are technically legal and operate on chance.

(Information in the following story is from: The Charlotte Observer, http://www.charlotteobserver.com)
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (AP) Tour de France cyclist George Hincapie is riding into retirement.
The Charlotte Observer reports that Hincapie rode into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on Saturday, surrounded by thousands of fellow cyclists and supporters. Rich Hincapie said he hopes his brother's retirement ride continues as an annual charity event.
Hincapie is a Charlotte native who now lives in Greenville. A professional cyclist for 19 years, he gained fame as part of the cycling team that helped Lance Armstrong to seven straight Tour de France titles.
Armstrong was banned for life and stripped of his seven Tour de France titles due to extensive evidence that he used performance-enhancing drugs. Earlier this month, Hincapie said in a statement on his website that he had also previously used performance-enhancing drugs.
GREENVILLE DOUBLE HOMICIDE
Man charged with killing Greenville couple
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Authorities say a man charged with killing a Greenville couple had recently been released from prison and knew the pair's housekeeper.
Greenville County deputies say 22-year-old Jonathan Donell Rhodes was charged last week with murder, first-degree burglary and kidnapping.
Authorities say 78-year-old Gary Wells and 77-year-old Helen Wells were found stabbed to death in their home earlier this month.
A woman who worked as a housekeeper for the couple has been accused of stealing money from them before they were killed. Deputies say Shirley Ann Rogers used Helen Wells' credit card without permission.
Authorities didn't elaborate on how Rogers knew Rhodes, who was released on probation in March after serving part of a 5-year sentence for strong-arm robbery.
It wasn't known if Rhodes had an attorney.
BOEING-SC UNION
Judge: Boeing broke labor law at SC plant
(Information in the following story is from: The Post and Courier, http://www.postandcourier.com)
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) An administrative law judge says the Boeing Co. broke national labor law when a human resources manager at its North Charleston plant told a mechanic not to talk about unionizing during working time.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Sunday that Judge William Nelson Cates says Boeing can't prohibit employees from discussing the union while allowing discussion of non-work-related matters during working time.
Cates ordered Boeing to stop the practice and also required the manufacturer to post a notice that notifies employees of their right to organize.
A Boeing spokeswoman said the company is disappointed with the decision and disputes the findings.
Representatives of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers brought the unfair labor practice charge on behalf of the mechanic this spring.
