Dabangg 2 box office report: The Salman Khan starrer crosses Rs 100 crores on his birthday!

Dabangg 2 box office report: The Salman Khan starrer crosses Rs 100 crores on his birthday!

Arbaaz Khan’s debut directorial venture took just six days to touch the magical figure

Little did Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan know that their much anticipated sequel would make it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club in such a short span of time. The Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer earning Rs 100 crores at the box office isn’t surprising at all; what the makers and trade pundits were anxiously waiting to see was how soon it would touch the magical number and whether it would break Salman’s previous box office records.
Incidentally, the high-octane action drama which is doing exceptionally well at the BO has now collected a whooping Rs 100.78 crores (India nett) on the star’s 47th birthday, which certainly calls for double celebrations. If our feathered friend is to be believed, a huge success party is being planned by the ‘Khan’daan today. Yay!!!
It’s been a terrific year for the Tiger of Bollywood, as both his big banner films – Ek Tha Tiger and the latest, Dabangg 2 have fetched Rs 100 crores at the box office. The rock solid collections over the first three days of Dabangg 2 have surpassed that of Ek Tha Tiger, setting the box office on fire. The sequel which opened to a massive Rs 21.10 crores on Friday, remained sturdy collecting a whopping amount of Rs 65.16 crores in the first three days. It cashed in Rs 8.12 crores on day six (Wednesday), which took the overall earnings to a mind-boggling Rs 100.78 crores. And we are still counting!
The figures coming from the most distant corners of the country only show that what has begun withDabangg 2 is only a new beginning for Salman, a star for whom sky is the limit. If trade pundits are to be believed, the film has the potential to earn another Rs 100 crores considering the long New Year weekend. Will Dabangg 2 set a new record with Rs 200 crores and will this be the new benchmark for films releasing next year? What do you think BollywoodLifers?
